A fresh controversy has erupted after Hindu religious leader Paramhans Acharya called for the death penalty for the main accused in the alleged Ram temple donation theft case.
In a statement shared on social media, Acharya said the principal accused, identified as Titu Yadav, should face capital punishment if found guilty. He suggested that the remaining accused should be sentenced to six months in jail before being released.
The seer also questioned the manner in which the accused was referred to in police records, alleging that officials had prefixed his name with "Shri," which he claimed reflected the accused's influence.
The remarks have sparked mixed reactions on social media. While some users supported the demand for strict action against those accused of stealing temple donations, others criticised the call for the death penalty before the judicial process is complete.
The case remains under investigation, and no court has delivered a verdict. Authorities have not responded to the religious leader's remarks.
