Bollywood filmmaker Suneel Darshan has revealed the dramatic reason behind a major casting change in his 2005 film Barsaat. The film was initially planned with Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra, but Akshay eventually walked out of the project, leading Darshan to replace him with Bobby Deol.
According to Darshan, a song featuring Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra had already been shot. However, when the team was preparing to resume filming, Akshay reportedly asked for the project to be postponed amid personal concerns surrounding his pairing with Priyanka.
Darshan said he felt that continuing with the two actors could have caused “repercussions within his family.” He stressed that a married actor carries additional responsibility and ultimately decided that Priyanka should remain part of the film
. “I felt that a married man should be more responsible. Priyanka wasn't married. So I thought that if I had to make a choice, Priyanka should remain in the film,” Darshan said.
The filmmaker's remarks have once again brought attention to the long-running rumours surrounding Akshay and Priyanka's professional relationship. Importantly, Darshan's comments describe his own perspective on the situation; they do not establish the reported relationship rumours as fact.
