Islamabad: In a sharp and uncompromising message, U.S. Vice President JD Vance has issued a stern warning to Iran, making it clear that Washington will settle for nothing less than a total and long-term commitment from Tehran to abandon any pursuit of nuclear weapons.
Speaking from Islamabad amid high-stakes negotiations, Vance bluntly stated that the United States is not interested in temporary assurances or vague promises. “The world needs to see a clear, affirmative commitment that Iran will never seek a nuclear weapon or the means to rapidly build one,” he asserted
Vance claimed that Iran’s nuclear capabilities have already suffered a major blow, revealing that key enrichment facilities have been destroyed. But he warned that physical damage alone cannot eliminate the threat unless Iran fundamentally changes its intent. “This is about will, not just weapons,” he said. Taking a hardline stance, the Vice President questioned Iran’s credibility, pointing out that despite ongoing talks, there is still no concrete indication that Tehran is ready to permanently abandon its nuclear ambitions. “We have not seen that commitment yet,” he said, signaling growing frustration within Washington.
The remarks underscore an increasingly aggressive strategy by the U.S. under President Donald Trump, aimed at forcing Iran into a binding, long-term agreement or facing intensified pressure. The message from Washington is clear — compliance is not optional, and delays will only escalate tensions.
As negotiations continue, the standoff between the U.S. and Iran appears far from over, with global powers closely watching whether diplomacy can deliver results — or if the crisis is heading toward a more dangerous confrontation.
