Indian cricket is on the verge of witnessing a landmark moment as skipper Rohit Sharma is set to become the oldest player in India’s ODI history. The milestone is expected to be achieved during the first ODI against Afghanistan in Dharamshala.
Rohit, who made his ODI debut for India in 2007 and has been a mainstay for nearly 19 years, will take the field at the age of 39 years and 44 days. This will surpass the long-standing record held by 1983 World Cup-winning squad member Mohinder Amarnath, who played his last ODI in 1989 at the age of 39 years and 36 days.
With this appearance, the “Hitman” will etch his name in the record books as the oldest Indian to feature in an ODI match, marking another remarkable chapter in his illustrious international career.
