New Delhi, June 21:
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate has alleged that at least 17 students died by suicide after reportedly being devastated by the controversy surrounding the NEET examination paper leak.
In a post on social media, Shrinate shared the names of several students and claimed that the irregularities in the medical entrance examination had shattered the aspirations of thousands of candidates across the country. She accused the government led by Narendra Modi of failing to safeguard the future of students and ensure a fair examination process.
The Congress leader said the alleged paper leak and subsequent uncertainty had caused immense mental stress among students preparing for one of India's most competitive entrance examinations. She called for accountability and stronger measures to restore confidence in the country's examination system.
The ruling government has previously defended its handling of the issue and maintained that corrective steps were taken following investigations into alleged irregularities. Authorities have also urged students and families not to lose faith in the examination process.
The NEET paper leak controversy triggered widespread political debate, protests, and legal scrutiny, with opposition parties continuing to demand greater transparency and accountability from the authorities.
