Kolkata | West Bengal
Ā West Bengal FormerĀ Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has launched a sharp and aggressive attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing it of targeting the poor through selective ābulldozer actionā while allegedly applying double standards in handling political opponents.
Banerjee claimed that under BJP influence, demolition drives are being carried out against small traders and ordinary citizens, with shops and livelihoods being destroyed in the name of enforcement. She alleged that while common people face eviction and bulldozer action, āspecial arrangementsā are being made for jailed workers of the Trinamool Congress.
Escalating her criticism, the Bengal CM accused the BJP of misusing administrative power for political intimidation, turning governance into what she described as a āselective punishment system.ā
Ā The remarks come at a time of heightened political confrontation between the TMC and BJP in West Bengal, with both parties trading accusations over law-and-order issues, governance, and political targeting.
Political observers say the latest comments are likely to further intensify the already heated political atmosphere in the state ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
