New Delhi, June 26: The Central Government has revised passport application fees by amending the Passports Rules, 1980, with the new rates set to take effect from July 1, 2026. Under the revised fee structure, the cost of applying for a fresh or reissued 36-page ordinary passport has been increased from ₹1,500 to ₹2,500. The Tatkal application fee for the same category has also been raised from ₹3,500 to ₹5,000.

The revised notification also includes updated charges for several other passport-related services, including 60-page passports, replacement of lost or damaged passports, and other travel documents.

The government has not announced any changes to passport validity. Adult passports will continue to be valid for 10 years, while the existing validity rules for minors will remain unchanged.

The revised fees will apply to all passport applications submitted on or after July 1, 2026.
