The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation has directed that all construction and demolition (C&D) waste must be transported only to government-authorised processing plants, warning that strict action will be taken against violators from June 28. MMC Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy held a meeting with builders, contractors and representatives of C&D waste processing agencies at the corporation headquarters in Tarnaka on Saturday.
The Commissioner said dumping construction waste on roads, vacant plots, drains or any unauthorised location is strictly prohibited. Vehicles transporting C&D waste must deliver it only to authorised processing plants for scientific disposal and recycling. He also stated that the use of processed C&D waste is mandatory in construction projects, roads and infrastructure works exceeding 20,000 square metres.
The collection and transportation charge has been fixed at ₹426 per tonne, while those transporting waste in their own vehicles will pay ₹106.50 per tonne. The Commissioner warned that illegal dumping or overloading will attract a ₹25,000 fine for the first offence, ₹50,000 for the second and ₹1 lakh for the third offence, along with vehicle seizure. Construction owners, contractors and agencies responsible for illegal transportation or dumping will also face a ₹50,000 penalty for each violation. Stating that illegal dumping poses serious risks to public health, the environment and city sanitation, the Commissioner urged all stakeholders to follow the rules and keep the city clean.
Citizens can contact the authorised C&D waste processing plants at Shamshabad and Thumkunta (Toll-Free: 18002030033, WhatsApp: 7330000203) and Jeedimetla and Fathullaguda (Toll-Free: 18001201159, WhatsApp: 9705433369) for waste collection at government-approved rates.
