Islamabad/Tehran, April 12: Iran has stepped up coordination with Lebanon to ensure that ceasefire conditions are being strictly followed, even as critical negotiations with the United States unfold in Islamabad to end a six-week-long conflict that has rattled the region.
Speaking from Pakistan’s capital, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran is closely monitoring developments in Lebanon and remains in active communication with officials there. He stressed that maintaining calm on the Lebanese front is essential to prevent the situation from spiraling further.
The statement comes as senior U.S. and Iranian representatives hold rare face-to-face talks, with Pakistan acting as a mediator. The discussions are aimed at reaching a broader agreement to halt hostilities and reduce rising tensions across the Middle East.
Iran has signaled that the Lebanon ceasefire is not a side issue but a core condition tied to any larger deal. Officials believe that any breach on the ground could weaken trust between negotiating parties and jeopardize progress made at the diplomatic table.
Concerns are growing in Tehran over reported violations of the ceasefire, with officials warning that continued instability could derail ongoing efforts to secure peace. The fragile truce is being closely watched as a test of commitment from all sides involved.
Despite the uncertainty, diplomatic engagement continues, with hopes that sustained dialogue in Islamabad could pave the way for a breakthrough. The outcome of these talks is expected to influence not just Iran-U.S. relations, but also the broader security landscape in the region.
