: Panic gripped Chityal mandal after a powerful explosion rocked a pharma unit on Thursday. The incident occurred at NOSCH Lab located on the outskirts of Puttampally village, triggering chaos and fear among workers and nearby residents.
According to preliminary reports, a reactor in the third block of the factory suddenly exploded while workers were on duty. The intensity of the blast sent thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky, alarming locals and causing widespread panic in the surrounding areas.
At least nine workers sustained serious injuries in the accident. They were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials confirmed that one worker remains in critical condition, raising concerns over the severity of the incident.
Fire department teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and launched firefighting operations. Multiple fire engines are currently engaged in efforts to السيطرة the flames and prevent further damage within the facility.
The explosion has once again raised serious questions over safety standards in pharmaceutical industries in the region. Locals expressed anger, alleging negligence on the part of the company management. Notably, this is the second such incident within a month, intensifying concerns about recurring lapses.
Adding to the outrage, labour leaders pointed out that workers were made to operate on International Workers' Day (May Day), which is officially a holiday. They criticized the management for risking workers’ lives despite the significance of the day meant to honour labour rights.
Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion. A detailed investigation is expected to follow.
