New Delhi / Parliament |  Warangal MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya raised key concerns in the Lok Sabha regarding the lack of new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and delays in modernization efforts in Telangana, particularly in the Warangal region. Highlighting the urgent need for skill development, she sought clarity from the central government on the current status of ITIs and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) in the state. She questioned whether training programs are aligned with emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), renewable energy, and 3D printing, especially at a time when employment opportunities for youth are becoming increasingly limited. The MP also asked for details on the number of ITIs and NSTIs in Telangana, the courses offered, enrollment figures, industry partnerships, trainer upskilling, and placement records. Responding to the query, Minister of State for Skill Development Jayant Chaudhary informed the House that there are 301 ITIs functioning in Telangana, including 30 in Warangal. Over the past three years, around 1.30 lakh candidates have been trained across the state, with 11,754 trainees from Warangal alone. However, the Centre clarified that there are currently no proposals to establish new ITIs or NSTIs in the region. Reacting to this, Dr. Kavya criticized the lack of support from the central government for a fast-developing area like Warangal. She questioned why, despite the PM-SETU scheme being cited for ITI development, no new institutions are being sanctioned for Telangana. The MP urged the Centre to take concrete steps to equip youth with modern skills and to focus on Warangal’s development with greater priority.
