South Central Railway celebrates International Women’s Day at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad with awards, cultural programmes.

South Central Railway celebrated International Womens Day, 2026 in a grand manner at Rail Nilayam Auditorium, Secunderabad . Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, SCR graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Shri Satya Prakash, Additional General Manager, SCR; Ms. Madhavi, Commissioner of Railway Safety, S.C Circle; Shri Siddharth Kati, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, SCR; Principal Heads of the Departments, officers and staff were also present. Cultural programs comprising of skit and dance performance by students of Railway mixed high school along with Kuchipudi dance performance by woman employee enthralled the audience.

On the occasion, General Manager presented awards to best women employees in different departments for the year 2025-2026. He also presented prizes to winners of elocution and essay writing competitions. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, SCR stated that the theme for the year is Give To Gain, he stressed that the best way to gain is through education, which is the key to empowerment. Further, he highlighted the difference between equality and equity in terms of women empowerment.

He elaborated that equality means providing equal rights, opportunities and treatment for all genders whereas equity is the process of providing resources and support to address specific issues, ensuring fair outcomes. We have come a long way in providing better facilities for women and there is still a long way to go, he said. He also stated that it is a matter of great pride for SCR that 5 crucial departments of the zone viz., Operating, Commercial, Security, Finance, Medical and also Guntur Division are being led by efficient women officers. Shri Siddharth Kati, Principal Chief Personnel Officer presented the welcome address. He stated that the women officers and employees are the pride of SCR excelling with sincerity and dedication. He informed that around 8,000 women employees are working in the zone and are handling sensitive jobs such as loco pilots, track maintainers, train managers etc. He stated that women are achieving great success while juggling families, home and work.

He informed that various facilities have been provided for women employees to register any workplace complaints like she portal and shine app. We must ensure a safe and happy work environment for women, he said. On the occasion, Ms. Madhavi, Commissioner of Railway Safety, S.C Circle; Ms. K. Padmaja, Principal Chief Operations Manager; Ms. Aroma Singh Thakur, Principal Chief Security Commissioner; Ms. Hema Suneeta, Principal Financial Advisor, SCR; Dr. Nirmala Rajaram, Principal Chief Medical Director; Ms. Ity Pandey, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, SCR; Ms. Sudeshna Sen, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntur division also addressed the gathering. They encouraged women to invest in their health, financial stability, to never give up and to never be afraid to speak up for themselves.
