Chinese EV giant BYD has unveiled an updated version of its popular electric SUV, the BYD Atto 3, now boasting a claimed driving range of up to 630 kilometres on a single charge. The announcement signals an aggressive push by BYD to strengthen its foothold in the rapidly growing electric vehicle market, including India.
The refreshed Atto 3 comes with improvements in battery efficiency and software optimization, enabling the extended range figure. Built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 and powered by its proprietary Blade Battery technology, the SUV is expected to deliver enhanced safety, longevity, and performance compared to its predecessor.
On the design front, the new Atto 3 retains its sporty crossover stance but features subtle exterior tweaks and a more refined interior. The cabin is expected to include a larger infotainment system, improved connectivity features, and premium materials aimed at competing with global EV rivals in the segment.
Industry experts say the extended range could significantly boost the appeal of the Atto 3, particularly in markets like India where range anxiety remains a key concern for EV buyers. The model is also expected to offer fast-charging capabilities, reducing downtime and improving usability for long-distance travel.
While official pricing and India launch timelines are yet to be confirmed, analysts expect the updated Atto 3 to intensify competition in the electric SUV space, challenging both domestic and international automakers as the EV race accelerates
