: Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy has strongly dismissed rumours of petrol and diesel shortages in Hyderabad, calling the recent panic “artificially created” through social media misinformation and political manipulation.
Addressing the issue, Kishan Reddy said that fuel supply to Hyderabad is actually higher than previous levels and there is no real shortage at any petroleum distribution point. He clarified that petrol pumps across the city are operating normally and stocks are being maintained without disruption.
However, he acknowledged that global geopolitical tensions, particularly the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Iran, have created minor short-term supply pressures in international crude markets. He said this is a global factor, not a localized crisis affecting Telangana or Hyderabad specifically.
The minister alleged that certain political leaders are deliberately amplifying fear around fuel availability for political mileage. He accused them of spreading misleading narratives on social media, which he said has unnecessarily triggered public anxiety and temporary rushes at fuel stations.
Reassuring citizens, Kishan Reddy emphasized that there is no shortage of petroleum products in the country. He urged people not to believe rumours and to rely only on official information, adding that supply chains remain stable and fully functional
