Hyderabad, April 19:
A spell of rain accompanied by strong gusty winds lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Sunday evening, causing widespread disruption across the city’s northern zones. Areas including Qutbullapur, Kukatpally, Bachupally, Alwal, and Suchitra reported severe impact, with at least 53 trees uprooted due to the high-speed winds. The sudden weather change caught many commuters off guard.
The northern parts of the city recorded around 4 cm of rainfall, while waterlogging was reported at eight locations, leading to traffic slowdowns and inconvenience to residents during peak evening hours. Following multiple complaints, the HYDRAA control room alerted Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams, who were immediately deployed to the affected areas. The teams worked continuously to remove fallen trees and clear blocked roads.
Officials stated that all reported issues were resolved by around 8:30 PM, ensuring restoration of normal traffic movement. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during sudden weather changes and avoid venturing out unless necessary.
