India's foreign exchange reserves recorded a modest increase during the week ending July 10, reaching $675.1 billion, according to the latest figures released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The gain reflects the country's strong external financial position amid ongoing global economic uncertainty.

The rise was largely supported by an increase in foreign currency assets, which stood at $546.5 billion. India's gold reserves also moved higher to $105.2 billion, indicating continued growth in the country's reserve holdings. In addition, both the Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) and the reserve position with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) registered slight improvements.

Foreign exchange reserves play a crucial role in safeguarding the economy by supporting the rupee, financing imports, and helping the country manage external financial shocks. A healthy reserve stockpile also enhances investor confidence and provides greater flexibility to policymakers during periods of global market volatility.

With reserves remaining among the world's largest, India continues to maintain a solid financial cushion that can support economic stability and strengthen resilience against fluctuations in international trade and capital flows.
