In a dramatic political move, Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Saturday announced the formation of a new party named Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), signaling a major shift in Telangana’s political landscape. Addressing a gathering in Hyderabad,
Kavitha launched a sharp attack on K. Chandrashekar Rao, accusing him of failing to uphold the aspirations of the people of Telangana. Kavitha alleged that KCR’s governance had deviated from the core ideals of the Telangana movement and claimed he had “lost his identity” by becoming confined to a select group of leaders.
She said the administration no longer reflects the sacrifices made during the statehood struggle and accused the leadership of distancing itself from public concerns. Taking a dig at the silence of leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Kavitha criticized them for not responding when BJP MP Tejasvi Surya compared the Telangana state formation to the partition of Pakistan. “Not a single leader spoke up to defend Telangana’s dignity,” she remarked.
She also raised allegations of corruption in the Kaleshwaram project, stating that her stance on the issue led to political retaliation.
Kavitha accused senior leader T. Harish Rao of targeting her and orchestrating her exit from the party. “I was sidelined for speaking the truth,” she said. Positioning her new party as a people-centric alternative, Kavitha declared that the Telangana Rashtra Sena would work towards restoring stability and transparent governance in the state. She asserted that the current regime represents a “destructive rule” and vowed to strongly oppose it.
I will dedicate my life for the people of Telangana. The stability and future of the state are my ultimate goals,” Kavitha said, adding that the formation of TRS marks the beginning of a new political chapter aimed at reclaiming the spirit of Telangana.
