March 12, 2026 The curtain has officially fallen on the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, but the final chapter unfolded amid unexpected global travel disruptions. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the last groups of players and staff from South Africa national cricket team and West Indies cricket team have safely departed for their home countries. According to the ICC, within the last 24 hours, 29 remaining members of the South African squad and 16 members from the West Indies contingent boarded flights back home, concluding a complex and high-pressure travel operation. Officials revealed that the departures took place under extremely challenging global travel conditions, forcing ICC logistics teams to coordinate closely with governments, airlines, charter flight providers, airport authorities, and member cricket boards. The ICC stated that ensuring the safe return of players, staff, and their families was the top priority. Constant changes in travel conditions required rapid adjustments and round-the-clock coordination. The governing body also thanked Cricket South Africa and Cricket West Indies for their cooperation during the operation and praised the ICC staff for working tirelessly to ensure every member of the tournament’s travelling parties returned home safely. Although the tournament has ended, the dramatic travel situation has become one of the most talked-about off-field stories of the 2026 T20 World Cup. CD
