Bengaluru: The chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are set to meet in Bengaluru on August 3 for discussions on the long-pending Cauvery water-sharing issue.

The meeting is expected to focus on ensuring water availability for agriculture and drinking purposes in both states, amid concerns over reservoir levels and monsoon rainfall. Officials are also likely to discuss measures to improve coordination on water releases and address issues related to the Cauvery basin. 

The talks come at a crucial time, with both states seeking a mutually acceptable approach to managing water resources while balancing the needs of farmers and urban populations. The meeting is being viewed as an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and reduce tensions over one of southern India's most sensitive inter-state river disputes.
