Andhra Pradesh: Fresh signs of a COVID-19 resurgence have triggered concern across Andhra Pradesh after 12 positive cases and four deaths were reported between June 26 and July 16. The sudden cluster of infections has prompted the state health department to place district authorities on alert and initiate emergency preparedness measures.
The new infections have been detected in Kadapa, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, and Guntur districts, raising fears that the virus may be silently re-emerging in multiple regions of the state. While the number of cases remains limited, the reported fatalities have intensified concerns among health officials and medical experts.
The Andhra Pradesh government has directed district medical officers to immediately strengthen surveillance, increase testing of symptomatic individuals, and accelerate contact tracing efforts. Officials have also been instructed to ensure the availability of medicines, testing kits, hospital beds, and reserve oxygen supplies in all government healthcare facilities.
According to health authorities, three patients are currently under home isolation while the remaining infected individuals are receiving medical care. Hospitals have been asked to maintain emergency readiness and avoid any delay in responding to new cases.
Health experts have urged citizens not to ignore early warning signs and to follow preventive measures, especially in crowded places. The public has been advised to wear masks where necessary, maintain physical distancing, and seek immediate testing if symptoms such as fever, cough, or breathing difficulties appear.
Medical professionals say these developments should serve as an early warning rather than a reason for panic, stressing that swift action and public cooperation will be critical in preventing any wider spread of the virus in the coming weeks.
