New Delhi: The political storm over alleged irregularities in donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya intensified on Monday, with Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi demanding an independent investigation into the matter.
Launching a sharp attack on the BJP, Singhvi said allegations involving devotees’ contributions cannot be brushed aside and require complete transparency. He described the issue as one of “faith, accountability and public trust,” arguing that institutions built on the devotion of millions must be held to the highest standards.
In a strongly worded statement, Singhvi accused the BJP of taking political credit for the Ram Temple while attempting to distance itself when questions are raised about its administration. He asserted that transparency is not optional when public faith and religious donations are involved.
Calling for a credible and impartial inquiry, the Congress leader said the truth must come out and responsibility must be fixed if any wrongdoing is established. He further remarked that devotees deserve answers and that “Prabhu Ram deserves better than secrecy and silence.”
The controversy has triggered fresh political debate over the management of donations and offerings at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, with opposition parties demanding greater scrutiny and accountability.
