Women’s Reservation Is a Right, Not a Political Gimmick”: Priyanka Gandhi Slams Modi Government

Priyanka Gandhi launches a sharp attack on PM Narendra Modi, accusing the government of delaying women’s reservation through census and delimitation tactics. Opposition unity haile

India

New Delhi, April 17: Launching a fierce political attack, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi declared that women’s reservation in Parliament and state assemblies is a fundamental right that cannot be denied. She asserted that no political force can stop its implementation and vowed that the demand will eventually become reality.

Taking direct aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Priyanka accused the government of playing “deceptive politics” by linking the Women’s Reservation Bill to the 2011 Census and the delimitation exercise. She called it a “hollow attempt” to project Modi as a champion of women while deliberately delaying real empowerment.

In a strong show of opposition unity, Priyanka praised lawmakers who stood firm against what she described as a dangerous political move. She said the opposition’s resistance has safeguarded India’s democracy and preserved its institutional integrity at a critical moment.

Had these three bills been passed, democracy in this country would have been severely undermined. We all know this deep down,” she said, warning that the government’s strategy was aimed at silencing dissent and consolidating unchecked power.

Calling the day “historic” in Indian politics, Priyanka Gandhi said the opposition has drawn a clear line against attempts to suppress the voice of the people. “We have risen above politics and fulfilled our duty towards the nation,” she added, thanking all opposition MPs for their resolve.
