Hyderabad, May 10:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged Indians to brace for possible global economic turbulence, calling on citizens to reduce fuel consumption, revive work-from-home practices and avoid unnecessary spending, including buying gold.

Addressing a gathering in Hyderabad, Modi said the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia and disruptions in global energy markets could impact India’s economy in the coming weeks. He appealed to the public to adopt a cautious and disciplined approach to spending.

The Prime Minister advised families to limit non-essential purchases and postpone discretionary expenses. He specifically mentioned gold purchases, urging people to conserve money and avoid investments that are not immediately necessary.

Modi also called on companies and institutions to encourage work-from-home arrangements wherever possible. He said fewer daily commutes would help reduce petrol and diesel consumption and ease pressure on the country’s import bill.

He urged citizens to make greater use of public transport and avoid wasteful use of petroleum products and cooking gas. According to Modi, small sacrifices by individuals can play a major role in protecting the nation’s economic stability.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that India is well positioned to handle global challenges but stressed that public cooperation will be crucial if international tensions continue to affect oil prices and supply chains.
