Hyderabad, April 20:

In a sweeping and aggressive crackdown, city police carried out massive inspections on pan shops across Hyderabad, exposing a shocking network of illegal sales. Several outlets, operating under the guise of small tobacco stalls, were found selling banned substances including gutka and other intoxicants in large quantities.

During the coordinated raids, police teams stormed multiple locations simultaneously, catching shop owners off guard. Authorities seized significant amounts of prohibited products and registered cases against several vendors. In some areas, shops were immediately shut down as part of enforcement action.

As news of the raids spread rapidly, many pan shop owners hurriedly pulled down their shutters in fear of police action. Entire stretches of the city saw sudden closures, indicating the scale of the crackdown and the extent of illegal activities that had been thriving unnoticed.

Meanwhile, regular consumers—especially smokers—have been left frustrated, struggling to find cigarettes and other products. The sudden shortage has triggered visible inconvenience, with many expressing anger over the abrupt disruption.

Police officials, however, defended the operation, stating that the crackdown is aimed at protecting public health and curbing the spread of banned substances among youth. They issued a stern warning that strict surveillance and further raids will continue, making it clear that violators will face serious legal consequences.
