Tel Aviv, April 8, 2026 Israel’s political landscape has heated up following criticism of the recent ceasefire with Iran. Opposition leader Yair Lapid on Wednesday strongly attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of failing to achieve the objectives set during the conflict.

Lapid described the development as one of the most serious political failures in Israel’s history. He argued that on critical national security matters, the Israeli government was sidelined and did not receive adequate representation in key decision-making discussions surrounding the ceasefire. He praised the Israeli military for completing its assigned missions and commended citizens for their resilience during the conflict. However, he stressed that the political and strategic leadership had fallen short.

“None of the goals set by the Prime Minister were achieved. This reflects a breakdown in leadership marked by arrogance, negligence, and lack of strategic planning,” Lapid said. The opposition leader warned that the political and strategic damage caused during this period could take years for Israel to recover from. His remarks signal growing pressure on the government as internal criticism intensifies over the handling of the Iran situation.

The ceasefire has triggered fresh debate within Israel, with opposition parties expected to further challenge the government’s decisions in the coming days
