Kolkata, April 8, 2026 News Story: A latest survey conducted by Shining India has projected a strong lead for the ruling All India Trinamool Congress in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, indicating a possible return to power for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

According to the survey findings, the TMC is leading with a significant 42.1 percent vote share, placing it well ahead of its closest rival, the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is projected to secure 37.3 percent of the voters

The survey also suggests that other political parties are trailing far behind in the electoral race. The Left Front is expected to receive around 9.1 percent of the vote share, while the Indian National Congress is projected at 3.6 percent. Other parties collectively account for approximately 2.1 percent. In terms of seat projections,

the survey indicates a comfortable majority for the Trinamool Congress, with the party likely to win more than 180 seats in the 294-member assembly. If these projections hold true, Mamata Banerjee is set to retain power for another term, reinforcing her political dominance in the state.

Political analysts note that while the BJP has maintained a strong presence with over 37 percent vote share, it still faces a gap in converting voter support into a winning seat tally. Meanwhile, the diminished vote share of the Left and Congress suggests a continued decline of traditional opposition forces in the state.

The survey results are expected to intensify political campaigning in the coming weeks, as parties gear up to sway undecided voters and consolidate their support bases
