In a sharp political attack, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday accused Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of leading a government that is increasingly “detached from the people,” claiming that “nothing is left in the Left.” Addressing party workers and the public, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala has drifted away from its core ideology and grassroots connect. He said the government, once known for its pro-people stance, is now “out of touch with reality” and failing to address key public concerns. “The Left in Kerala has lost its direction. It is no longer connected to the struggles of ordinary people,” Rahul Gandhi remarked, intensifying political rhetoric ahead of upcoming electoral battles. The Congress leader also took aim at governance under Vijayan, accusing the state administration of prioritizing political interests over public welfare. He emphasized that the people of Kerala are seeking accountability and change. The remarks are likely to escalate the ongoing political confrontation between the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and the ruling LDF in the state. The Left leadership, however, has consistently rejected such criticism, asserting that its governance model remains focused on welfare and development. With political temperatures rising, Kerala is set to witness a sharper war of words between major parties in the coming weeks.
