Vijayawada Division Celebrates 80th Independence Day

Vijayawada Railway Division marks Independence Day with patriotic spirit, strong performance, improved passenger services and a proper focus on safety and development.

Vijayawada Division of South Coast Railway celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at the Railway Mini Stadium on 15 August 2026.

DRM Shri Mohit Sonakiya hoisted the National Flag and received the ceremonial salute. Addressing officers, staff and families, he paid tribute to freedom fighters and reaffirmed the Railways’ commitment to national progress. South Coast Railway, operational from 1 June 2026, recorded ₹4,894.86 crore in Gross Originating Revenue in the first four months, with freight loading of 32.084 million tonnes and passenger traffic of 58.61 million.

 Safety, infrastructure, passenger amenities and Amrit Bharat Station redevelopment remain key priorities.

 The DRM also honoured 18 meritorious children for their achievements in various activities under the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026.
