The Andhra Pradesh Government is pressing ahead with its plans for the comprehensive redevelopment of the sacred Indrakeeladri shrine, with improving facilities for ordinary devotees remaining its top priority, Endowments Commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan has said.

During an inspection of the ongoing works at the temple, the Commissioner reviewed the construction of the new Laddu Prasadam unit and Annadanam Bhavan. He instructed officials to ensure both facilities are completed and opened to devotees before the commencement of Shravana Masam.

He also directed that the draft Indrakeeladri Master Plan be finalised and submitted by 15 July. Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace of construction, Mr Ramachandra Mohan instructed engineering officials to step up the works on a war footing, with round-the-clock shifts, to ensure the projects are ready well ahead of the Dasara Navaratri festival.

He stressed that quality must not be compromised under any circumstances and warned that unnecessary delays or wastage of public funds would not be tolerated. The Commissioner also took a serious view of commercial activity beneath the Elevated Queue Complex, stating that the area was developed solely for the convenience and movement of devotees.

He ordered the immediate removal of shops and other commercial establishments, making it clear that every available space on Indrakeeladri should be dedicated to pilgrims' needs.
