BLOs Must Perform Their Duties Vigilantly: Nellore District Collector Himanshu Shukla

Nellore Collector Himanshu Shukla directed BLOs to conduct voter roll revision transparently, warning of strict action against negligence and lapses.

District Collector Himanshu Shukla has directed all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) involved in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll to discharge their responsibilities with utmost vigilance and transparency, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.

 He warned that strict action would be taken against any official found negligent in performing their duties. The Collector inspected the implementation of the Special Intensive Revision programme in the Vengal Rao Nagar area on Podalakur Road in Nellore city. During the visit, he reviewed the door-to-door survey being conducted by BLOs and examined the distribution and collection of enumeration forms, verification of voter details, registration of new voters, and other electoral revision activities.

Addressing the officials, Himanshu Shukla stressed that the electoral roll revision must be carried out fairly, impartially, and in full compliance with the Election Commission's guidelines. He emphasized that every eligible citizen should be included in the electoral roll and instructed officials to ensure that the house-to-house survey is completed without any lapses. The Collector also directed BLOs to provide accurate information to voters seeking assistance regarding the electoral roll. He instructed officials to promptly scrutinize applications received from voters and complete the registration process as per the prescribed procedures. Additionally, he urged officials to create public awareness about the electoral revision programme and encourage greater participation in the voter registration process. Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Anusha and officials from the Revenue Department accompanied the Collector during the inspection.
