Chennai | May 20, 2026 In a significant political development, the Indian National Congress is set to re-enter the government in Tamil Nadu after a gap of nearly six decades, with two of its MLAs scheduled to be inducted into the state cabinet on Thursday (May 21)

. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal announced that party president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the induction of MLAs Adv. Rajesh Kumar and Thiru P Vishwanathan into the cabinet led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. “

InC President Sh Mallikarjun Kharge ji has approved the induction of INC MLAs Adv. Rajesh Kumar and Thiru P Vishwanathan into the Tamil Nadu cabinet led by CM Thiru Vijay, and they will be taking oath as Ministers tomorrow,” Venugopal said in a post on X.

The move marks a notable shift in state political dynamics, with the Congress party—part of the broader alliance structure—making a return to the executive arm of the government in Tamil Nadu after a prolonged absence.

 Further details on portfolio allocations for the newly inducted ministers are expected after the oath-taking ceremony.
